okay - i'll go copper. thanks for the tip on platinums - makes sense. why a .040 gap? chrysler says .050. could my current .050 factory gap be the culprit of my high rpm miss?

Yes. Try a .038 gap for the stock PCM (not stage 1)
And I'd have to disagree with Mean Green on the iridium plugs.(rare)
But I've been running them almost since I got my car and they just perform better head to head comp. I gapped my stock plugs, NGK copper plugs, and Denso iridiums all at .035 (stage 1 mopar recommended) and tested all of them on all out runs to just about top speed limiter. The stock plugs really sucked and even with the lower gap they missed at anything over 15psi. The NGK's were better, but at 18psi they started missing. My Denso's will run all they way up to 23psi and no misses. I think they are worth the $30-35 extra they cost. And now they have the ITL20's. One step colder than stock and you do NOT need special wires for them. They work with stock, magnacore, MSD, crane, any of them.

okay - the plugs are cleaned up and set down to .038. i will thrash it around tomorrow - and let you know if my high-rpm miss disappears.

***radio detector on - check!***

i - state your name, i - state your name, promise to repect the power of a .012 spark plug gap difference. unbelievable! kudos to the person who originally discovered this adjustment. makes you wonder what the chrysler enginneers were thinking - when they deemed a .050 gap.

revelenterprises.com for magnecor plug wires. i would get the stock copper champion plugs at a local parts store. .038 to .040 is what you need to gap the plugs at. ignore the factory .050 recommendation.

Have had a slight "pinging" on heavy acceleration for about 2 months. So no heavy acceleration until it could be resolved...Dealer could not figure out what it was. They wanted to replace the plugs and wires...I had already done that with the much better Magnecor and new Irridium plugs gapped at .040". Still had slight miss. Dealer stated that it was gas and to try different brands to find the one that works best.

So, I decided to change the coil...Screamin' Deamon. Yep big difference. In fact very noticable difference. No "pinging" on acceleration now. And what's even better, what feels, in the seat of the pants, better performance. Well worth the money since installing it on Friday.

Turbo I had the same problem with my 03 it was a bad ECM. there is a TSB on it you should check it out. after they replaced the ECM the car pulled strong all the way to redline. I got a copy of the TSB and took it to a dealer and insisted they perform the service. I had to be pushey with my dealer but it was worth it.

I upgraded the wires (NGK or something), new stock GT plugs (gapped to 45 not 50) and it still pings. Are you ex-pingers saying that you went to .35 or .4 and noticed the difference?

My PT (std) is bone stock, apart from wires and K&N drop in filter.

Ger.

Still under warranty? Have them check knock sensors. Pinging isn't good....
