Default miss under long and heavy throttle loads

hi - i have an engine miss at long and heavy throttle loads (passing gear mode at around 5-6,000 rpms). i'm hoping it may be a bad spark plug wire and not a TPS, MAP and/or O2 Sensor(s) issue. it's a '03 turbo gt with only 15K miles on the clock. anyone experience this type of engine miss?

Yes and willing to bet it is your spark plug wires. Mine went bad at 12k miles.

Had a high rpm miss in my '03 GT. Gapped plugs at .040 and it went away. New wires is a very good thing, too.

Please post whether wires cure it - I'll bet they do.

I've been plagued by the miss and can't cure it. I've had Magnecor wires on it for about a year now. I've changed plugs once and have changed the gap, but nothing works for me.

There was a TSB for a high rpm miss, too.

sure - will do. i ordered them through revel enterprises. i hope they arrive sooner than later.

btw: with help from this site, i removed that goofy white air box silencer. i have to say, the motor actually has a bit more zip - and the new throaty sound - is killer.

the new magnecor wires solved 85% of my high rpm miss. i guess i'll do the spark plugs next. go with platinums???

as mentioned in this site's archives, these wires do yield a smoother idle and better throttle response. overall - i'm happy i got them.

if anyone out there is on the fence about buying a set of these magnecor wires - you should go for it. they are worth the price.

Do not use platinums in a turbo. A turbo runs too hot. Platinums are excellent in a n/a PT. I used factory Copper Plus gapped at .040. Others are using Irridium plugs but they are spendy and there is no benefit to performance.
