Speaking of Cruiser mileage, I just learned the the cruise ship Queen Elizebeth gets six inches for every gallon of fuel. That's 10,560gpm for a land mile, 12,152gpm for a nautical mile.
All of a sudden, I don't feel so bad about my 19mpg average I've been getting with my GT.

For 36,964 miles, I have used 2,171.20 gallons of fuel for an average of 17.14 mpg. My GT is used almost exclusive around town, virtually no trips. 22.74 is the best mileage I have had on a full tank of gasoline recently. 24.96 is my all time best average from a tank of fuel, with 15.15 being the worst (after break in).

Before Stage 1, the plastic intake manifold, AMX TTAB pipe, and a K&N drop-in filter, my car (2003 GT) would routinely get 17 MPG city and 25 MPG highway. Now, after the mods, the car still gets 17 MPG city, but 30-31 MPG highway (constant 70 MPH with cruise control used).
Those modifications were the best things I ever did for my car. Scott

On a recent trip to NYC. I got 31 mpg, my best to date. A run to Cape May netted 28 mpg. She's at 26,800. On my daily stop and go, I get 19 mpg.

Nobody, and I mean NOBODY!!!!! gets better than 23MPG with a PT GT.
Everybody, and I mean EVERYBODY!!!! is getting from 17 to 22 MPG avg. Anybody, and I mean ANYBODY!!!!! who says they get better than 23MPG is <fill in blank with epithet of your choice>, and just flat out cannot be trusted to operate a calculator properly. Somebody, and I mean SOMEBODY!!!! tell DC to improve the MPG's on this rig, or lose all market share. (And give me a $20,000 trade in value towards purchase of that new mileage master.) |

I have a little over 10,000 miles on my GT. I have NEVER gotten above 19 miles per gallon even with 60% highway driving. With city driving, I average 15.1 - 17. I usually only step on the gas when I need to -- other than that, I baby the car around town.
I really enjoy the PT Cruiser, and the power that the Turbo has to offer, but the gas mileage just plain SUCKS!

Gutcheck,
Can you help me with my math? Two fillups ago I reset my trip counter to 0. Then I went back to the same pump, didn't top off either time. My miles on the trip counter were 312 and gallons to fill up were 13.18. I tried using a calculator, and I used MS Excel, but I get the same MPG, a little OVER 23.

Thanksgiving Weekend trip from Phoenix to California and back...22MPG. This is consistent with my regular trips from Phoenix to Tucson and back. Have never gotten any better! NEVER. Even when I did a run from Phoenix to Tucson and back at 55MPH!
Wife's '05 Mini Cooper S gets a consistent +30mpg on the road and 26 in town. Yeah there is a difference in weight (~2679 Cooper; ~3100 PT), but !!! |

I get between 16-19mpg for local rural/town driving and anywhere from 23-30mpg on the highway. The "final leg" of my last freeway trip with good road/weather conditions driving north (think maybe the "force-field" at the North Pole helps some???
) on I-5 from about 30 miles south of Olympia to Maryville, WA. (115 miles) I got 29.7mpg [8D]. About 18 months ago--the week before my "S1" installation--I did even better--32.9mpg on the same stretch of road also traveling north. For some reason [:I] my gas mileage is never that good going south on the same section of I-5.
