musty smell

I know this subject was brought up before but I cannot seem to locate it. I still have this musty smell coming from the vents. Any ideas of what it could be? Thanks.

Maybe a Cabin Air Filter will help get rid of the smell--I don't know for sure.[:I] However, it is a OEM part costing around $16 so it might be worth a try. Good luck.

You've got mold growing in the AC evaporator. Buy a can of lysol, and with the fan running, and all windows open, spray the lysol liberally into the fresh air intake, under the hood, at the bottom of the windshield. You might have to do this again in a day or two to make sure you got it all.

THEN buy the cabin air filter from CHRYSLER, because the list price at Chrysler dealers is from like $14 to $16, (those ebay sales are rip-offs). You won't kill the mold just by putting the filter in place first.

To install the filter, you must remove the plastic cowling, unbolt the 3 bolts for the washer tank, and move it out of the way. If you have a plastic box-like intake housing, with a grill on it, just open it up and put the filter element inside. No need to change the housing. This was what I found in my wife's 2003 touring. If you just have just a hooded-plastic intake, like my old 2002 did, change out the whole assembly. When you change it again you only have to pull out the old element and put in the new. You don't want to keep messing with the plastic fasteners, they won't stand up to being removed/installed.

The filter does get really nasty and fowled with dirt, pollen etc. and should be changed occasionally.

If you are still under warranty then take it to the dealer. There is a tsb for this.
