Default PT Cruiser beats 1982 Ferrari and 1980 Corvette

FYI

The stock PT Cruiser GT Turbo with an Autostick transmission does 0-60 in 6.7 seconds. http://www.mpt.org/motorweek/reviews/rt2210a.shtml
(Manual transmission would be faster)

The 1982 Ferrari 308 GTB/Si Quattrovalvole (assume it's manual transmission) does it in 6.8 seconds. The PT Cruiser wins!
http://www.pistonheads.com/doc.asp?c=52&i=9840

From that same link we see the following 0-60 times:
1983 Ferrari Mondial QV - 7.6 sec
1982 Porsche 944 does it in an even slower - 7.2 sec

From this other link we find the following numbers:
http://www.albeedigital.com/supercou...0-60times.html
A 1980 Chevrolet Corvette L82 7.4 15.4
A 1989 Nissan Maxima SE - 8.9 sec.
A 1993 Jaguar XJS Coupe - 7.8 sec.
A 1967 Ford Mustang (390ci V8 w/4spd) - 7.4 sec.
A 1994 Ford Mustang Cobra - 6.9 sec.
A 1987 Chevy IROC-Z - 6.8 sec.

All beaten by our little family station wagon. Try fitting a load of lumber in any of those others though. LOL

Got any more to add?

I know about Albeedigital (it's referenced in my original post). I was looking for a concise list that would surprise people when talking about the PT. You know, like when you're trying to impress someone when you pull up alongside a Ferrari and say "I could be him" (without having to race the Ferrari).

When they tell you you're crazy, you can refer to this list and some legitimate references (links) and say "see I told you so".

and some times its not how fast your car is its how fast you can drive it! not everyone can hit shifts 100% of the time when the adrenaline is pumping... thoes #'s are prob the best of the best shifts...

The point of this is???
The cars listed are not 0-60 cars. So the fact that they can even hang with the PT is great..Not to mention that is VERY old OBDI & older comuter systems.
The IROC, everyone knows is a POS out of the box.
The L82 Smog-moible..pig..
The Ferarri 308. Not a 0-60 car..very slow anyway, not their best work.
1982 944..come on now. Even a earlier 944 will eat the PT alvie in the twisties...which is what it was meant for.
A carb'ed 67 BB stang..NO TRACTION!!!!
1993 over 5000lbs. Jag ..elegance..They don't care about 0-60 as long as it's decent.
18989 Maxima..why even compare the PT to that? But even a fully loaded 89 Maxima, still had more comforts than a fully loaded PT of today.
1994 cobra..everyone know to say away from them. just garbage

There are many many cars that are slower than the PT in 0-60. But there are TONS MORE that are much much faster.
0-60 means nothing if the car cannot brake well or handles like a pig.....like the PT.

How about you compare turning radius?

ouch.

last time i checked, most of us are in the US,
therefor, the only thing that matters is how fast you can do a 1/4 mile strait.

There were very, very few quick cars in the 80s. They were doing the best they could with emission laden V8s and turbo-6s. The technology wasn't there yet.

One of the quickest 80s car is the Buick Grand National.
The IROC along with the 5.0 Mustang were great for their time.

Comparing our cars with technology from 20 years ago, isn't quite fair.....

Well, I have the '03 GT and I fondly recall a 1980 (or was it 1981) 308 GTSi from my youth. The 308 was much more fun. My PT has no where near the traction of the 308. If I recall correctly, the 308 was hitting 60 in second gear and it's ability in the turns was amazing. It looked fast even when parked and it attracted women like flies. You can't say that about the PT. Heck the DeLorean I drove back then had more sex appeal than a PT and it was slower than molasses.
