I have been looking for a way to connect my ipod to my 2003 pt gt stock stereo. I don't want to go with the fm transmitter since I have to continually change channels to get clear audio in my area. The DLO Direct http://www.dlo.com/Products/TPDirect...08435814253047 looked good because it connects to the stereo with a miniplug and charges the ipod, but you can't control the ipod with the stereo controls. What I did find that looks good is the Neo Ion http://www.mp3yourcar.com/default.asp which connects dirrectly to the stereo and allows for stereo button control. I think this is the best way to go since you can place the ipod in a glove box and lock it out of sight, or take it out so someone in the car can be the DJ. Direct connect should provide the best audio. And best of all you should be able to load your car with over 15,000 songs, much better then a cd changer. So tell me what you think about any of the products mentioned above. If you have used them, what you think and ease of instalation.

I have my iPod hooked up. With a car kit iPod adapter from Best Buy. It plugs into the power outlet and charges it at the same time. It has the option of using the FM transmitter or cassette adapter, which the later sounds 10x better.

I keep flip floping on FM transmitter or direct connect. I keep reading reviews that the DLO Transpod has a good transmitter http://www.dlo.com/Products/TP_Prod....30925792141322 . Has anyone used this product and found that it does have a good transmitter?

i replied to this post in the sound forum (http://ptcruiserlinks.com/forum/topi...TOPIC_ID=13726). i do not have the one you are looking at, but it looks almost the same as mine. the direct connect is the way to go. i tried three different fm transmitters and they all needed lots of adjusting while driving to find a clear signal (lots of radio stations, military interference, and stations from mexico here in san diego, so fm reception is not that great. a guy at the apple store said the fm transmitters are a waste of money in large cities). also, using an fm transmitter makes your ipod sound only as good as the best fm station, there is a huge sound quaility difference with a direct connect. the options are an adaptor or a new head unit. i like the adaptor because of the features (adjust volume and change songs with the stereo controls, charge the ipod, all with one cord), and that when i'm not using it there is nothing visible that anyone would want to steal. again, good luck and let us know what you get...

Do what I did, take out the stock radio and put in a better one. I really hated that radio and the speakers (the speakers especially!). Replaced the whole thing about 2 months after I bought my car in 2004. I got a Pioneer radio and, last year, got an iPod for Xmas. Pioneer makes an adapter plug that works nicely with the iPod. The newer radios will control the iPod and also display what songs are on, etc.

Nice cruiser ecarfar.
The Pioneer radio sounds like a good idea. Is there such thing as an amplifier or equelizer that will plug into an ipod?

I was looking to do the same thing. I've ordered this adapter and waiting for delivery:
http://www.cardomain.com/item/USSPA11CHR?vq_id=none ![]() It has the same functionality, i.e. pretends to be a CD changer and allows to control iPod from the factory radio. You have to compose 5 playlists and they will be seen as CDs in the CD changer. It will not allow to display the song names though. Costs about 110$.

Harmon Kardon has a system that allows you to control your Ipod like a satellite radio. It has a display with a separate mouse placed somewhere close to you for all controls. You can check it out on this site: http://www.harmankardon.com/ It cost about $200.

Alright, I know I have been dragging my feet on how to listen to my iPod in my PT, so finally I got one. Being in Hawaii for the holidays I was getting bumbed out about not being able to use my ipod in the rental, at home, visiting family, you can't just put on a set of earphones without anoying someone. So I ended up getting the Giffin iTrip and boyo did that do the job, not only was I able to commandeer my families radios in their own homes, I was able to play it in the car rental, (PT Convertable
) and once at a resturaunt I was able to tune into the radio station their radio was tuned to and was able to control that too[} ] Driving around in Hawaii the FM transmitter worked fine, but not good, static here and there, in Honolulu bad transmission, but for the majority of the time, the transmission was ok. All I'll say is it's good for traveling state to state or international. Now that I'm back home in SF the transmission sucks, too many signals all over the place. So in a metropolitan area I would suggest a plug direct to your PT's stereo. For the weekend getaway to the country I would suggest the iTrip so you can take your tunes in the car, in the hotel and in your hosts stereo system too. here's a link: http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPL...lm=TG191LL%2FA
