Default Transmission rattle TSB

Is anyone aware of the TSB regarding the manual transmission rattle on the 03GT. I have a slight rattle periodically when I'm in neutral. When I depress the clutch the noise goes away. I've found the TSB# but have yet to pay the fee to read it. Planning on trying the dealer. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I just checked for any related TSBs. Nothing with the symptoms noted. What is the TSB#?

Nope, not mine,('03 GT) but mine was replaced at 22,882, NOV 04. It was leaking. At the time it was shifting just fine, no rattle. I took it in because I had a small spot on the garage floor that turned out to be the tranny. They replaced it under warranty.

I got this info from the nhtsa.dot.gov site. The service bulletin # is: 0600105. The NHTSA item # is: 10012813. Component: power train: Manual Trans. Summary: trans gear rattle sound at idle. *TT Bulletin date is 19 Feb 2005.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

I've got a serious rattle too. I took it to the dealer once, but of course the rattle was gone at that time. I need to get mine back to them again. If there is a TSB can I force them to take care of it even if it is not making the noise at the time?

Hello

I just joined figured a good thing to do, as I have 2 03 GT's. One of my 03's had the transmission replaced under warranty after I complained to the dealer about rattling at idle. The noise would stop when clutch was pushed in. It was very low mileage 17598.

I have the noise back at 36000+ and am going to have to bring it up to the dealer again. I don't know if they knew about the TSB 0600105 previously, but I will bring it up now.

I hope this helps. I will post with more information as I get it

I have 45K on my 03 gt....same exact problem...either the fywheel or throw out bearing...but here is the good news...does not effect performance...had the local tranny guy do a diagnostic....nothing to worry about he said, just makes some noise...if you have it fixed under warranty great@ but mine has been this way for 10K at least. many BMW's have the same problem..could be the lighter weight or dual mass fly wheels being used today....don't know...do know the car still drive fine and I'm not spending a dime on tranny work until the car won't go forward or backward...good luck

Well I know it was not in the transmission as that was replaced, It always sounded like a throwout bearing, and acted the same way. For S&G, I will let the dealer take a look, I have an extended drivetrain warranty and am the original owner. And I will post my results. The other 03 I have has never had that noise. And the one without the noise is noticibly slower with the exact same drivetrail, both GT's with Manual.

I really appreciate your very quick input, thanks!!!

I know for a fact that there is one for the NA PT's because I did it on mine. It is the clutch module. The springs inside rattle. There is an upgraded part that supposedly fixes it but it's kinda iffy. I know there where some problems with the 03 GT's with the clutch. I can't access the website at home but will check on it monday. It's not a serious problem just a noise.

Well I was at the dealership today with the 03 Dream Cruiser for routine maintenace(Not the one with the clutch rattle). I brought up the noise (rattle) to the dealer and he checked and could not find a TSB for the rattle. I told him about TSB 0600105 (Idle Gear Idle). He could not find this TSB. Not a big deal YET. Has not caused any issues, but I think my transmission was originally replaced for nothing concerning the noise. The dealer found shavings in the tranny oil after inspecting after I complained about the rattle.

If anyone has the correct TSB involving the rattle please feel free to forward the information.
