Default Oil Consumption

I have a 2005 PT Cruiser GT. On my first oil change (2,480 miles), the technician stated on my paperwork that I was short one quart of oil. I know the burning of "1000 miles per quart is normal. I have a K&N drop filter, and I added Mobil 1 oil. Should I worry right now? Or maybe this is normal for the oil consumption. And I do know that everyone does not burn oil, but for the ones that do burn, any concerns?
thanks

Normal, especially on a new engine.

I would keep my eye on it for the next 10K miles if I were you just to be sure all is okay. My 04GT used 1/3 quart of oil the first 1500 miles (intial break-in). When I changed to Mobil 1 5W-30 oil at 3700 miles it was down less than a 1/4 quart. Since 3700 miles using exclusively Mobil 1 it has not used any oil with over 18K miles now on the engine. Overall, my engine appears to be "very tight" and has performed extremely well both before and after the installation of the Mopar STAGE 1 Turbo Upgrade (7300 miles).

I had to read the posts twice and I still don't think I get it - are you saying your car is really burning oil, as in "going from five quarts to four quarts?"

I don't think I've ever noticed a difference in the dipstick level from just after an oil change to just before.

And now that I think of it, I always pour the old dirty oil into the five-qt bottle that the new oil came in and it fills near to the top.
