Default hey! air bag light - turn off !!!

happy new year everyone!

once in a blue moon, my air bag light stays on after starting. is this a common problem or something i should be concerned about? i saw some past mention on this board regarding a "snap ring" - is this what's happening?

Does you cruise control and horn work. It could be the clockspring...

Well normally when a clock spring goes out it stay out meaning the air bag light will stay on. try seeing if you have any codes stores...it may be an air bag sensor either in the front or the rear.

thanks, good point about the clock spring. actually, i do have a ob2 code reader i could hook up...

do you know where the sensors are physically located? maybe a wiggle of the connector(s) would cure this deal?[:I]

it's a '03, so this would be the last year, but i don't know if the 3 year factory warranty starts the day the car is purchased, or if the warranty runs to 12/31/06.[:I]i'm the second owner, so...[:I]

I've definitely noticed the same thing on my '03 GT with about 49k miles. For approx the last 6 months, after I start the car, the airbag light stays on for about 7 seconds and then goes off and usually a chime sounds as well. This happens most every time, if not every time. This is a new, different behaviour of the airbag lite (that is, it didn't do this until about 6 months ago) so something has changed to cause this.

I recently installed Stage 1 (which means I had a complete PCM changeout) and it did not affect the airbag light staying on, so it's definitely not PCM-related.

I checked the codes (by turning the ignition key On-Off-On-Off-On) and there are none. Cruise control and the horn work just fine.

Not sure what to do about it, and I guess I'm just hoping it's a instrumentation problem and not one with the airbag itself. But since I hate taking my car to a dealer, I'm just living with it.

Well...there is another side to look at....You need your air bag to work right...I would yake it to the dealer to have them check it out....If you have a problem with your air bag and it does not deploy if you get hit......the dealer then seems like a cheap alternative....

Good point; I shouldn't potentially put my life in danger just because I hate going to the dealer.
