Default Need Northern California shop for engine mods

we have a 2006 GT Turbo and want advice and work by a shop that has lots of experience on these engines. we're talking ignition mods, intake mods, a NOS addition, and ??. we live near Palo Alto, California, and are willing to drive 100-200 miles to work with an experience craftsman who is able to offer solid advice on these turbo engines, and know what options we have. for example, there are many, many folks offering a K&N or K&N-style intake filter; one of them has to be better than the rest. we want only the best (Fastest). thanks for the references . . . What about Pappy's Custom PT Cruiser in Walnut Grove? Maybe they do the right kind of work.

For intake Mods, get your air filter from WeaponR.com in South San Francisco, and put it on the intake system from Adam of Prototypepower.com in so Cal. He'll ship the kit up to you and you can install yourself, it's not really that hard, bolt-on stuff.

Any good muffler shop can install the exhaust system of your choice, see the forums for what people have and what they like.

Then see Tommy Thrift of HaynesSpeedShop on these forums for good tech advice for the rest and you should be on your way.

Tommy Thrift at haynesspeedshop.com is a good resource for parts and info. For PT specific speed parts try AGP.

For a good speed shop try Modacar in Livermore. They'll install and tune your car, and do dynos. They're not cheap, but have experience with SRT's and can tune PT's

Lastly try Folsom Lake Dodge/Chrysler. They have a mopar speed shop at their dealership. I've heard they do good work there, and are not too concerned with speed mods, when it comes to warranty issues.
Good luck.

My only advice on performance parts for your 06 is to make sure they fit. I don't believe anyone makes a high flow filter yet for the 06. The stock air box is smaller than the pervious models. So I would call the manufacturer on anything you want to buy it assure fitment. But you can do things like take out the silencers in the box for improved air flow(don't get rid of the box or you will just be sucking hot air, bad), a custom free flow exhaust or maybe a kit if they fit the 06. I don't believe they changed the exhaust set-up, so the 3" turbo back from AGP would be the best. The VAK system is good, but I'm not sure if the intake piping is the same length, so it would be something to check.(ask your dealership if the part #'s are the same for 05 v.s. 06, if they are, then any of the hard intake pipes will work.) If you really want to big kick, get the SRT-4 stage 2 wastegate actuator. It works with the stock PCM but is adjustable so you can get more boost at wide open throttle without setting off engine check codes as long as you stay under 18psi. A boost gauge is a must for this mod. Good luck with the 06.
