I haven't finished all the wiring, but the majority of the work is done. It got to cold up here (Boston) to be crimping wire connectors. Along with the direct port injection, I also have added a safety feature. My car, without an boost controller, boosts around 15 psi (agp wga). In the last picture, you will see a bleed hooked up to a solenoid, that is t'd into the line running to the wga. When my water injection activates, the pressure switch between the water solenoid and the injectors will trigger, which in turn does a couple of things. The first is it will light a small led in the cabin that will be mounted in my gauge pod. The second, and most important, is that it will activate the solenoid with the bleed, instantly increasing my boost to 17-18. The best part is, no pressure to the injectors, then the boost will stay at 15 (peak). But if the water injection system is working correctly, the boost will increase.

Wow, let me get this straight, your injecting water into the manifold and this is increasing your boost to 17-18. Excuse my ignorance if thats not whats going on, but to me it looks like the wires are connected to the Mitsu Manifold. If this is whats going on can you explain how it works. Thanks

Wow I have seen people tap a line into my system right before the throttle body before but never on the manifold..
If makes sense to put it closer to it's finnall destination.. good idea.. Plus it looks like something serious is going on there.. I like it.. Thanks.. Adam WWW.PROTOTYPEPOWER.COM |

I still don't get what's going on with enginerunup'd engine. Maybee I missed something. Is he using something in the car to trigger it to add boost through the manifold? what does a water injector do? And how does a water injector add boost?

strangelove, the water injection itself does not increase boost. It allows you to run higher boost levels without worry of pre-detonation because it dramatically cools the charge in the combustion chambers. It's really more a safety adder than a true power adder, but the killer thing is that it allows you to make more power (potentially a lot more power) while staying very safe.
High boost levels without this extra cooling can lead to (heck, it WILL lead to) the pre-detonation I mentioned above (also known as spark knock) and the PCM will pull timing. Pulling timing reduces power - but the PCM can only do so much and severe, prolonged pre-ignition will literally destroy your engine. |

Oh that's whats going on, really interesting. Thought I was having a nightmare or something. For some reason I thought he was injecting water into the manifold. So let me get this straight, a bleed line connected to a solenoid tied into the waste gate actuater. When the water injector is triggered it takes air from the wga and adds it to the fuel mixture. The water injector isn't injecting water it is injecting air creating more boost. These wires tap into the manifold where air is added to help cool the air before it passes onto the cumbustion chambers. Am I close? Question: So what is a water injector and how does it cool the charge or add boost? Is this a modification of an existing part, or is it a bolt on application, and most important why are the wires yellow?[B)]

strangelove - here's a good link to read through, explains water injection for you:

[:X] Wow so this guy is injecting water into the combustion chamber to decrease the chance of pre ignition, at the same time allowing for higher boost levels at safe temperatures. Crazy.
