Default 2004 turbo

any thoughts how to bring 2004 turbo up to GT status? What is the difference in the engine? Any clues?

Thanks

The 2.4L Turbo engines should all be the same. If you have the "Turbo Lite" with 180hp all you need is Stage 1 to bump it up to the GT range. I think the 04 models already have the larger injectors. Anyone want to jump in here and confirm that. [:I]

Yes, '04 already has larger injectors. Stage 1 would consist of new pcm. HP/TQ numbers would be the same as a GT with Stage 1. Stage 1 on a Turbo Lite (180 hp) is a serious addition of power. [8)]

If you have a 2004 turbo, and it isn't a GT, then you have what we call the "turbo lite" - it's the exact same engine as the GT, the computer sets timing to run on regular gas.
What everyone has said is correct - get stage 1 (dealer) and you'll have more than a stock GT. It will require premium fuel.

Let's just be 100% clear here:

GT High Output turbo: Factory stock = approx 220HP (depends on model year)

Turbo Lite (as found optionally on some Limited and Touring models): Factory stock = 180HP

Add Stage 1 to either version and the end result is IDENTICAL: 235~240HP (depending on which page of the old MOPAR website you're looking at)

I very often see people stating that adding Stage 1 to a Turbo Lite brings you up to GT level. It doesn't. It surpasses the GT HP level and takes you to ....... you guessed it - Stage 1!!

thanks for the information. glad i own a gt. i am curious if the turbo-lite and h.o. turbo's mpg estimates (on the price sticker) are different or identical.

Thought this would be a simple search but it came out alittle weird.

N/A engine 21/26 mpg
turbo lite 19/26 mpg
turbo gt 19/26 mpg

These are numbers coming up on window stickers.
