Default Rear wheel drive transmission

Does anyone know of a rear wheel drive auto transmission that will bolt up to the 2.4 turbo motor?

Wow, your better off looking for an AWD system that would fit rather than a straight rear wheel drive. Rear wheel drive would mean a completely redesigned drive platforum while remounting the engine itself. If you have that much to spend, why stick with the 2.4L [:I]

Its just an idea i have been tossing around with friends.I found a 2003 gt with a ton of miles for a reasonable price.I want to build something different. Was just thinking that rear wheel drive with a ford 9 inch and 29x18.5 mickey thompson tires would be different. If i kept the 2.4 turbo in it i would be able to drive it on the street.I live in massachusetts so if i did a full chassis and an engine swap it would never get and inspection sticker. This is probably something that will never happen .Its just an idea.I know there is a 6 speed rear wheel drive trans that comes in some jeeps with the 2.4

well i am going to go look at the car this week.If it is as nice as the seller says it is i will most likely buy it.As far as what i am going to do with it,who knows. But if i do deside to do something stupid with it i will gladly take pictures. This will end up being a winter project..so i guess we will see.

Find a transmission out of a Liberty with the automatic and 4 cylinder. Or a Wrangler with 2.4 and automatic. Rare but thet are out there somewhere.

Hey, the wife has a 2.4L Wrangler Auto. Just had it rebuilt two months ago. Not selling but they are rare because no power with the auto and the transmission is weak. The wife had to have an auto in her mind and liked having a/c in it.But as you can imagine, a 4 banger with a/c, auto, and 33 off road tires makes for a weak take off.

I would be really be interested if you managed to get your 03 GT to have all wheel drive. I hear the Jeep Compass comes with a 4x2 Freedom Drive. The Compass' powertrain is a 2.4 liter I4 engine and is a similar size as the PT. This might be another option for you instead of going rear wheel drive.
