Yup, definately too much money which is why I told them not to do anything and I walked away. I will try another reputable shop that is not a dealer. Should be a lot less money.

By the way, I also own an Audi and was reading about how seafoam is used to clean this carbon buildup and more. You can read about it here:

Has anyone done something like this? Any idea if this would void the warranty?

There is no way that your engine needs a DeCarb. at 30,000 Total waste of money.....If you want to add some Cheveron Techroline every 3 to 6 thousand miles and you will be fine...

You asked if plugs & wires should last for more than 30k+ miles. I have a 06 NA, when it had 438 miles I noticed a slight hesitation at idle. [xx(] [xx(]

Instead of taking it to a dealer, I just replaced the plugs with Champion 7440 and MOPAR Performance Wires.

NO MORE HESITATION!!!!

Not everyone is a do it yourselfer.(more power to you if you are) And if you have an extended warranty, why lift a finger? (the $1,000 would be what it would have cost)

I have been using a product called The Force gel pack since 2003. It is suppose to increase the octain as it treats the air going into the engine, and is suppose to remove carbon engine deposits. I do know that there is an instant increase in performance, as when after 3 or 4 weeks it completely evaporated the performance drops off.The gel pack is just placed in the air box (dirty side of the filter) and I also place a partially evaporated one inside of the white silencer when it's small enough. I started using the gel packs a few months after buying the GT in 2003 due to the 91 octain fuel in california, and now I'm hooked!

Thanks for the info. I guess Chrysler uses cheap plugs if they need to be replaced after 30,000 miles.

And not only that, shouldn't a tune up be included in your warranty?

In any case, I'm not doing this at the dealer. Way too much money.

Do plugs and wires (either copper or irridium plugs - not platinum in a GT and either Crane or magnecore wires). If vibration persists, motor mount(s).

1- Chrysler used cheap just about EVERYWHERE. It's how they keep the price of the car down.
2- BMW includes tuneups. Most BMWs cost more than twice as much as most PTs.

In my experience with my 03 GT, you will need to buy premium spark plug cables, (MOPAR performance or better), new plugs, (NGK Iridium 40,000 miles easy or stock and replace at 20,000 miles), If engine still idles rough have the throtttle body and injectors cleaned by a mechanic and start using Chevron Techron Concentrate Plus on a regular basis, (new product designed to clean engine better than what they put in pump gas). If this does not result in a smooth engine then look into engine mounts but replace only if a mechanic says they are bad or going bad.

My guess is that spark plugs and wires is what you need. Do the work in stages so you will know what your problem was. My 03 Turbo sometimes idles so smooth I need to look at tach to see if it is still idling when I have it in park. Let us know what you do, how much it cost, and how well your car drives and performs. DO NOT buy exotic cleaners as the tend to be expensive and not needed.

i no of a very quick and easy to clean the stuff out of your engine, the next time you drive your car, drive it hard, put it down, pedal to the medal, how ever you want to say it. carbon is partialy due to driving the car to easily. when i got my car about 6 months ago it ran terrible cuz of stuff in the motor. i drove the crap out of it a couple times and now it runs great
