Default Air Conditioning slow to cool

hi all - when my pt is parked under the hot sun all day - it takes the AC an unusually long amount of time to get to its peak cooling temperture. has anyone else experienced this? is this common for a pt? or is the AC's ozone-friendly R134 the prime suspect?

Question back to you. When it does finally cool, will the vent in the middle above the A/C controls(when facing your hand on the steering wheel) blow cold enough to almost freeze your hand?

Another....do you have the far right control on "inside" air rather than "outside"?

eventually it blows VERY cold - it just takes up to 10-15 minutes. The right control is always set to re-circulate. maybe having a dark interior contributes to this long cooling down period...?

thanks for your reply bob, but i found a shadey spot to park the car under all day. the cabin seems to cool quicker now. i'm sure it's a combination of a dark interior and the r134 in the system. i probably should have waited longer before posting this question. all is back to normal in my pt universe.

I found on my 03, that it seemed to take forever on a 90 degree day to cool, but i found my problem was that the setting was on fresh air. I put it on recirc mode, and what a difference...

My 04 PT is the same also...But my wife and daughter have a 2003 and 2004 Honda Civic and it has a much better A/C then the PT. Even in regular mode it will freeze you out when the outside is 95+...Put it in recurulate...and you have an ice box...
