as has been stated numerous times, the only difference between the turbo and the turbo lite engines is PCM programming. Same internals, same turbos, same intercoolers, etc. Same auto tranny, just that the GT gets an AutoStick shifter and different programming in the TCM to make it work. The Turbo lite PCM is detuned to allow it to run on 87 pump gas. Hence the lower power numbers. Add Stage 1 to either, though, and you end up with the same power levels, and the same need to use premium fuel.

Same auto tranny,
I read that in '05, I think, they dropped 2 clutch packs from the auto for non-turbo PTs. Up 'till then, all PT autos were the same.
41TE - turbos, 40TE - non-turbos.

And yes, engines are the same.

You are correct, but he didn't ask about the N/A, just the HO and Turbo-lite. Those ARE the same.

No, you get the Turbo Lite and drop in a Stage 1.

Save a few bucks, and get a *real* kick in the pants.

the 41TE auto transmission has 4 clutch packs, and come in turbo PTs - both turbos. Non-turbo PTs get the 40TE auto with only 2 clutch packs. Obviously, it was done to save money - I guess the torque rating of non-turbo is okay with fewer cluch packs.

no, please read the thread.....

in 2005 Chrysler switched to a 40TE auto in NON-TURBO's
40TE = 2 clutch packs.
Prior to 2005, ALL PT's had a 41TE auto
41TE = 4 clutch packs
Therefore, all TURBO PT's (including Turbo Lites) have the 41TE

Without explaining to you how a 4xTE transmission operates, the difference is that with 2 clutch packs, you can hold less torque, hence their use in normally aspirated (low HP and torque) PT's. It's a cost saving measure.
The Turbo's still have the 41TE, which will hold more torque (although not much more than stock)
