To add one more thought on syn oil. The only problem I have heard is that high mileage engines that switch to syn, many times have developed oil leaks.

There is no need for a special oil filter .I changed to Mobil 1 oil at around 1200 hundred miles with no problems,and i use a Fram filter.It's what we run on are race engines..Works great on them,so should be ok on your GT.......
