Battery light

I have a 2001 PT with a fairly new battery. While driving my gas light came on followed by the battery light. The odometer lights then started flickering. When I turned the car off and tried to turn it back on it was totally dead with no lights or other signs of life. About 15 minutes later it started like nothing had happened. I put gas in it and drove with no further problems. Was this caused by dirt being sucked up and clogging the gas jets? Should I expect further problems? I was originally thinking I had a short. Sasha33, I would check the battery post connections first and insure that they are clean and tight.Make sure the ground (negative)cable is tight where mounted to the frame. Some PT owners have added extra ground cables or wires to the engine head,PCM and tranny that seemed to help the PT's poor ground.
