I came from having an 83 Dodge Aries and then a 93 Dodge Dynasty. I have to agree, they all turn about the same. An Intrepid is also plagued by that, and it has something like a 113" wheelbase. Not fun! I would think the only reason why it turns the way it does is because the 1980's parts bin still had extra stock! The flipside to that is when stuff fails parts are cheap because things haven't changed in the last 20 years! I just finished redoing my rear drum brakes, cost me about $80 for new drums and shoes. I didn't have a manual for the PT but guess what? The Dynasty manual showed an identical drum brake with step by step how to. Betcha the 83 K car would have been the same too!

I think most of the FWD's up till the Caliber have been plagued with poor turning radius. Some are better than others yes, but I think that's mostly due to wheelbase. Drive something Japanese that actually turns sharp and then you'll realize ALL the Mopar's suck, not just the PT.

My 2 cents,
Ben

Cool Re: turning radius?

THANKS FOR THE POST ON THE TURNING RADIUS!
(I just got back in town from a trip to PA, and was going to post that question before I left town).
I've got both a base model Touring, and a GT Vert, both 2006. When I wash the cars and drive down the street to turn around at a neighborhood intersection, I noticed that the NA base model turns in a radius about 2 feet smaller.

Yeah, it does suck that a small car would have the turning radius of a dead cow!

Hi,

I can only tell you, here in Europe, PT owners explain the teriffic turning radius by saying: the PT comes frome a continent where they have much more room....

And no-one would say "the PT is a small car"....

Its all a question of the viewing point, but really the turning circle is poor!

Great idea!! It's a honest to me, that you think I come from Britain - just because I live in Austria, where we speak German... and drive on the right side of the road!!

In GB- as far as I have heard - there isn't only the steereing wheel mounted on the right side, but they also turn it to the left, if they have to drive to the right
