I don't know if someone has posted this before but I don't have time to scroll through 60-some pages of past topics........sorry.
I am looking to make my own intake pipe and the pipe that goes to the throttle body ( I don't know the tech. terms for these pipes ), I don't plan on doing some homemade piece of junk.......it's going to be done the right way. Also, I am keeping the stock airbox with the high-flow aircleaner. My question is this, the turbo opening is 2.5 inches in diameter...from what I have seen, can I use a 2.5 inch pipe from the aibox to the turbo or should it be bigger like the AMX pipe which I believe was 3"? Does the size of the pipe make any difference? Also, what size pipe should I be looking at for the piping to the throttle body? |

The turbo outlet is 2.5", but the airbox outlet is 3". You can use a 3" pipe and at the turbo you can use an elbow that's 3" on one end and 2.5" on the other end. This place and others sell them.

Thanks MG!
I have seen this guys sight before, that is what got me on this "make it myself" kick. Is the up pipe 3" also?

I think I am just going to put a 2.5" pipe on the air inlet into the turbo instead of 3". The only reason being that I can purchase a 2.5" aluminum mandrel bent universal tube kit that has all the piping and couplers. I will use most of the pipe to make my up-pipe and the extra 45 degree pipe will be used for the turbo pipe, instead of buying a seperate 3" pipe (cost effective? or me being cheap? whatever)
Unless someone can tell me that I will benefit more with a 3", I am going to try this setup. Any feedback will help.
