Default Exhaust smell inside car

Hello all,
I have only had my 2003GT for a week now, and I have notice a stronge exhaust smell when I start up and at stop lights. Just want to know if this is a start to a problem or just nature of the PT beast. Car is only under warrenty for 3 months, so want to fix any problems before it is up. Thanks

Take it in. That's not normal. My '03 GT never had that smell with stock exhaust or an aftermarket exhaust.

Not Normal and Potentially DEADLY.

Drive it in with the all the windows fully open!

Exhaust leaks into the cabin can cause a buildup of Carbon Monoxide gas, which is itself odorless. Enough of it makes you sleepy, and then dead.

Well did some calling around, come to find out there is no leak. I only smell the exhaust when another car is in front of me, the dealer said it is from the PT short stubby front end. Which allows the exhaust to go right into the air intake for the heater and AC. So I turned the the heart onto recirclate and have not noticed the smell since. Must have been a little worried about buying a used car. Will keep my nose and eyes open Thank you all for the replies and will keep you posted.

Yeah, well, fresh air isn't always fresh these days...

I prefer to run with fresh intake, but in heavy city traffic or dusty conditions one often has no alternative but to flip the dial over to recirculation to survive.

Happy to hear that it wasn't a more serious problem.
