Default New car soon...

Hello to all!

I've been lurking on the forums for several months now, and
decided to end my lurk on the arrival of my new PT Turbo.
[^]
I'm getting it through Carmax in Los Angeles, and expect to
pick it up on Thursday/Friday. Was just wondering if anyone
has any specific things to suggest that I look at or check for
before I drive away from the dealership. (First new car and
all, so I'm a little paranoid that I'm gonna miss something
that I should bring to the dealer's attendtion before I leave
the lot.)

I've been having fun reading all of the threads, and I'm sure
I'll find the future ones to be just as interesting and usefull.

Welcome! You might look for the rear stabilizer if it's on the window sticker, and feel you way into whether they'll put it on if it's not on the car but on the sticker. Some owners have had success getting dealers to install them, others have said it's like talking to a... well, you know [xx(]

Welcome Mihoshi to the only GT Turbo Forums on the Internet. This is a great place to exchange ideas and obtain useful information.

I'm not sure there is anything special I would suggest you look for when taking delivery your new GT. Give it a "close once over"--drive it away--then after you have had it a week or so make a list of anything that needs attention and take it back for the work. That's what I did and it worked well for me. Hopefully, Carmax does a good job of checking their new vehicles prior to delivery. At a minimum, it should be in perfect running order with no exterior or interior damage whatsoever.

Good luck and enjoy you new ride. [8D] [8)]

If it has a front license plate holder on it, try to get them to replace the front bumper, or make a further deduction for the damage it did to the bumper. At least have it removed before you drive it. It partially blocks the air path to the intercooler, and decreases the potential for the intercooler to do it's job properly.

I think that you need to have a license plate on both the front
and back of a car in California, so removing the holder from the
front bumper in CA is not really possible... [:I]

The cars are delivered to the dealer with the front license plate bracket in the back with the floor mats so if you do not need to have a front plate make sure the dealer writes in big black letters on the sales order for it not to be installed.

If you do need a front plate having it mounted in the stock location centered on the bumper is not going to impact air flow through the intercooler. It's the after market brackets that mount the plate below the bumper that will.

i can just suggest giving it a good once over, b/c i got screwed by my dealership. There were two "golf-ball" dents on the hood behind the right washer jet, 2 scratches right to the left of the rear tail gate, and one the bottom of the tailgate!!! I picked up the car at night, which made it extremely difficult to see these imperfections, especially on a black car. When i brought it back, they conveniently had no idea what i was talking about and how they got there. And this is after my family has purchased 3 vehicles there prior to the GT!!
