I can't say I support the trac. control on my 06 gt manual. For me, it comes on almost every time I drive without passengers and it caused the car to move uncontrollably in wet conditions yesterday.
I can't say I understood entirely what happened, but I was on it hard in a thunderstorm and while I was accelerating with the steering wheel turned to the left, the fwd car was actually moving right because of action from the front tires. This was immediately from a dead stop. I just can't contribute that kind of action to anything but a traction control issue. Of course, it was easy to fix by using less gas.
