Ok guys, I'm buying a used GT (on the cheap), and I wanted to know, what things specific to the GT can I look for to see the previous owners treatment of this vehicle.
It only has 7000 miles on it, smells new, looks new, and from everything I can tell drives new. Let me know what you'd look for? I'm buying it tomorrow morning. -Shane |

I found it at a Mercedes / BMW dealer, looks like it was a trade in. They are selling it for 18,900, but I'm getting it a little cheaper than that due to negotiations. Fully loaded GT, with leather, and moonroof, and powerseats, and just about all the options minus chrome and flames...
It even has weathertech visors. Sweet deal

If the price is good but not unbelievably low, have a certified mechanic check the compression and give it a quick going over.
If the price is too good to be true then I would verify through the VIN number that it isn't a (worst case) a lemon law return, a restored water damaged or an insurance totaled vehicle (in most states, the title is required to show some or all of these conditions). Hopefully, you are just getting a good deal. Remember that some of the GT's were bought with the $2500 rebate and a dealer discount so that they got into the car at a discount of $3500 or more off of the sticker price. (Unfortunately, many of us didn't so we paid within $600 of sticker.)

We'll I just took delivery, I bought it for 18,900 with 7000 miles on it.
I think thats a good deal, because they gave me 12K for my '01 limited, and that was the best I've found anywhere!! I didn't haggle too much on the price because of the GREAT trade in value. I have been seeing offers of 10,000 or less for the 01 limited.

When I traded in my '01 Touring in for my Turbo, I got 13.5 for it. But I also had a hood scoop, dual exhaust, new intake, and new bumpers, as well as a paint job. They also said that none of the aftermarket parts didnt contribute to the price of the trade in. Maybe i just got a very good trade in.

all the dealer cares about is stuff like a/c, leather, cd am/fm etc... i lost loads of cash on my '01 touring with full body kit, suspension, exhaust, taillights, etc etc

Kirby - OH YEAH it sure has power allright, the wife and I just drove home from work, and whomped a couple of cars at lights. It was fun. I don't even know if they knew I was going to take off like a bat outta hell at the light, but they sure knew after all they saw was taillights!
I'm ALL smiles right now, and my wife is really scared of my driving! This is my 10th car in my life, and THE FIRST EVER that's fast. I'm LOVIN IT! =) =) =)
