Default Question on bike racks

Does anyone know if you can mount a rear hatch bike rack with a Xenon spoiler....? I would think the pressure on it would be too much.... not many options for carrying bikes, I don't like roof racks, they scratch the finish. 3 places also told me they could not put on a hitch ?? ideas? Gary

Gary:

I don't know what a Xenon spoiler would have to do with being able to mount a hitch. I have a 1.25" receiver hitch on my '06 PT GT MTX and I had the same hitch on my '04 PT GT ATX. I got it from U-Haul. It's quite nice and the cross bar is nearly invisible from behind the car, only the receiver really shows. I mount a bike rack designed for a tandem bicycle with it and that's how we carry our tandem. If you had a dual exhaust, I suppose that might interfere with a hitch.

I went to a U haul and they said because of my roll pan and duals I could not have a hitch. my spoiler would recieve too much pressure I would think with the weight of the rack constanting forcing the spoiler down. gary

Look into a Saris Bones rack. They are actually marketed for their ability to install over wings and such. I use one on my wife`s car (my PT has a hitch mount, but the saris fits it too, just in case.) My son and I race BMX and trust me, having two bikes fall off the back isn`t a 3 thousand dollar gamble I`m willing to take.
