I have been meaning to post this for some time. Finally borrowed a digi camera.
The hardest part was drilling up into the metal behind the bumper cover. |

looks great, I wonder if the cops will take it as legal??
I don't know...here in Minneapolis, they are PRETTY strict sometimes.

As I recall, several years ago, some of the Pontiac models came with an offset license plate. Unless your state has restrictions about relocating the plate, it should not be a problem.

I think they would be happy just having a front plate on there. There are so many that don't these days it would have to be a pretty slow ticket day for them to give me one for having it mounted to one side. I don't know the exact wording of the law here in CA, but I worry a lot less with it on there like this.

I went to Ace Hardware and bought some small plastic hole plugs then painted them with touch up. It took about 4 or 5 coats to get them right. They were real small so they fit the holes pretty good and pretty invisible from a distance.

What did you do about potential overheating of that side's rotoe since you blocked the air inlet?

AJ, that was covered in another post (that I'm too lazy to search for) that basically stated that unless you are doing SERIOUS and PROLONGED racing, that the rotors wouldn't get hot enough (relatively) to need venting. I'm not the smartest source of info on this, but I just wanted to let you know cause it was in a different post.

That "cooling duct" is not doing you any good without ducting going to the brakes anyhow. It is more "show" than "go". Look around. Most cars do not incorporate this and work just fine. If you find yourself doing a lot of roadracing on the track, you can run ducting that will make these funtional, just like a race car does, then the plate issue is moot anyhow as you can unbolt it with 2 bolts. Additonally, the plate does not cover the duct. It does look like it from this angle though. Also I would rather have funtional lighting as I do drive at night/rain more than I race. They run ducting to brakes on race cars because they are being driven at 10/10's on the track and are constantly on the brakes to the point where they glow red. More than likely you will never drive your street car at 10/10's anyhow.
I am planning on using the duct on the driver's side to run cool air to my intake too. It will not make a difference in my braking, trust me. Ford used the duct entrance on the mustang to put lights in. When we prepped it for racing we pulled the lights and ran the ducting. Not having it there before made no difference as a street car.
