Default A word to the wise - PT Turbo oil changes

ALWAYS use an oil filter wrench to remove the factory
oil filter. It is on INCREDIBLY tight - I mangled the he** out of it an hour ago AND ALMOST COULD NOT [xx(]GET IT OFF! So......use a strap wrench or something...you cannot get it off by hand, and puching a screwdriver through it will NOT work. These are cheap, crappy filters, unbelievably cheap when opened up.

I have a filter remover that comes in from the top and has three fingers that collapse on the filter. There is NO space too tight. I'm sure I paid about $10 for it and always works.

Right on--too bad but true. This is not the first time I have read something like this in a forum post--that's why one might want to consider taking your car to the dealership for that first oil change just to be on the safe side.

Took my PT to WallMart. Had them put in Mobile 1 and the best Fram
thats on the market. Cost 32 bucks and change and no hassles with the
filter or getting rid of drain oil.

I have found this problem on every new car regardless of make going all the way back to my first new car in 1974. Actually with the PT I was expecting a hassle with the limited room around the filter but it came loose with not much trouble with a strap wrench.

I went with Mobil1 and K&N Filter. The K&N Filter has a nut welded on the end and open end or cresent work with no problem, after you get the factory one off.

I remmeber visiting a site where a guy cut open most of the popular brands. It turns out that one of the best is just a Purolator PureOne. I can't remember if he did a K&N or not. The Fram didn't rate too high.
