Hey Dan, welcome to the forum. I have an '05 GT auto and have the same problem. Not terrible, but slightly rough. I had my 60k maintanance done at about 56k.

Bados
i did the 60 at 49 due to excessive miles the past month (3500). I have seen some talk on here about hyper grounding and might give that a try. How does your exhaust work for you? I have an airaid intake folter set up but have not dome anything else.

Dan, I love my Borla exhausts. I had them put in 2 weeks after I bought the car. It adds to the appearance, gives a nice growl without being noisy and adds a few horsepower to boot. I had a guy in a body shop do the cut in the bumper for me on the right side.

This is discussed many times on many PT Gt forums. The first place to look is the stock wires. If they are still OEM get some good ones. Crane Firewires or the like. I had to change my stockers out at about 25,000 miles. I actually needed them long before but refused to accept that they were so crappy they needed doing.

Secondly, try regapping your plugs down to about .035. This resolves most of the issue you described and you will get smoother acceleration when you really get into the boost.

Agree that that's usually the case.
I had my stock wires start to go before 20,000 miles, replaced with Cranes and now over 50,000 miles problem-free.

My '03 turbo was acting up just past 60K. At first the idle would just stumble a little. A little became a lot and occassionally the car would stall while idling. It definitely felt like a loss of spark problem.

Everyone here recommended the wire upgrade. Mine were still original and externally seemed good but I went ahead and replaced them with Magnecor 8.5s. I had a few days of good driving and then the problem returned with a vengeance.

I hadn't upgraded the plugs when I put the wires in so I decided that was the next step. I decided to splurge for NGK Iridium IXs. I removed the number 1 and 4 plugs first. They seemed to be in good condition. Certainly no sign of a major problem inside the cylinder. The number 3 plug came out much easier. It turns out it was covered in oil from a leaky valve cover. The oil dripped down the threads and was fouling the center conductor. The number 2 cylinder was a little wet too with oil but it wasn't yet working its way down to the cylinder.

The bottom line was that the poor idle was just a leaky valve cover gasket. The wires and plugs weren't needed (at least not yet). At least I won't have to change them again for my remaining life with the car.

Our 2003 GT had a bad idle problem. It had a check engine light with P304 code (misfire).

I replaced the plugs and wires (OEM parts) but this did not help.

We took it into the dealership and they found it had an intake manifold gasket leak. The replaced the intake manifold gasket and it fixed the idle problem.

Our turbo self-destructed several months ago, and so my guess is that they must of screwed up on the intake manifold gasket when they repaired the turbo. Although the idle problem was not apparent until a month or so after the turbo was fixed -- so it is hard to say.

Default 60k maintanance

About the 30,000 mile (also 60,000 mile) maintenance performed at the dealer:

The list says to "Inspect the plug wires and replace if necessary". So they rarely replace them.

Mine went bad at about 70,000 and it made me mad that they hadn't already taken care of it.

I upgraded to high performance Mopar wires.
