Default K&N 'Filtercharger' Cold Air Intake System...

Hello; I am new to the Forum and I just bought a 2004 PT Limited Edition 5 Speed. I am in love with the car, but would like a little more performance. (And maybe better MPG to boot.)
Does anybody here have this mod that can give me the 'inside scoop'? Was it a noticeable difference in performance after the addition of the CAIS?
Also, should I add a dual exhaust to the PT in conjunction with the Cold Air Intake?

I take it that since you posted in the Turbo section, you do have a turbo? If your looking for bang for the buck performance, nothing beats the stage 1 upgrade.

You want performance and better fuel economy. Good luck.

I merely said 'better' perf. and economy than what I presently have. And no, I do not have a turbo charger.
Do you have the K&N Filtercharger? If so, is the difference noticeable?

OK, you posted in the Turbo forum, so I jumped to conclusions, but now I can be more in tune because I don't have the turbo. I have had 3 different aftermarket air filter systems on my PT and I can tell you from my experience and from what I've read, anything that gets more air to the throttle body will be better than the stock system. The cooler air, the better, so any aftermarket system that draws air in from outside and has some way of keeping the hot engine air away, like the K&N, is better. I noticed a better, smoother pickup from a dead stop with all the filters.

There's also a proven technique of enlarging the intake pipe of the stock filter system, taking the white dounut rings out, cutting the pipe short that fits into the large air box and throwing in a better aftermarket filter like the K&N. All this can be done with less than $50 and supposedly is as good as any aftermarket filter systems.

That's pretty cool.. I will have to look into trying the technique of enlarging the intake pipe. A buddy of mine did something interesting where he built a little shield box around the filter. This 'box' screwed on and around the filter housing. He wrapped foil around it which kept heat away and cold air in. I also saw a guy on this forum who did something similar to what you are talking about.

Thanks for the help buddy!
