Default Oil Type Revisited

Hey All,

So I took my car in to the dealer this morning for my 6,000 mile oil change and service. While driving to work afterwards, I realized that I had forgotten to bring the Mobil 1 synthetic that I had picked up at the auto shop, and hadn't asked them to use synthetic when they changed the oil. I did have the synthetic in there before.

When I called my service dept. they assured me that going from synthetic to regular for 1 oil change shouldn't make any difference or cause any problems. But I think I trust the opinions of some of you all more so than my service department. What do you all think? Is it worth swapping out the new regular oil with the synthetic? Also, with the summer heat, would that have any affect?

Thanks for your opinions!!!

Biebs

It will not make a difference to run dino for one cycle. YOu have a new engine. Synth can make an old engine leak if seals are old and crudded up from lack of timely oil changes. On a new engine it will not make a difference. FWIW though, I would do a change @ 3000 miles. Just me.

I investigated this before I switched to Mobil-1.

"You can switch back with no adverse effects" says the folks at Mobil.
