Gary, My 01 says 120,000 but I'm not waiting that long and at 90K now, I'm looking around for the right place to do it. If you did a search you probably already saw that the regular drive belts, belt tensioner, water pump, oil pump and engine mounts should also be looked at real closely as they might be in need of changing also.

rule of thumb is 100k reguardless of make model. as crewzin suggested, get the other stuff done at the same time, dont wait till its too late.

On my 03 GT I replaced it at 100,000 miles. Since you have to take the water pump off to do it, put a new water pump on along with the belt.

not to bring a thread back from the dead but..
anyone have an estimate on the timing belt change...?? My 01 PT has 99,200 miles on it, and I dont know if its ever been changed since we bought it from carmax about 6 months ago, and I dont want to risk having it go on me... Need to see how much to save up ![]() Thanks P.S. - I just realized this was in the turbo forum.. sorry, my PT does NOT have a turbo...

if you have the time & money you can get it done at 80,000 not going to make much difference waiting till 100,000

2k1PT, It's hard to tell you what it will cost. A lot depends on what your going to replace besides the belt. If nothing ever been done, like said in other posts, there's the water pump, tensioner, drive belts etc. Could be anywhere from $5/700 to $1200 depending on parts and labor your mechanic charges.
