I brought my 03 GT (53K miles) to the dealer to have them look at this vacum cleaner like noise that was coming from the front.
They found leaking intake gaskets and replaced them under my extended warranty but they also found that the car had a lot of carbon buildup and needed a tune up and a transmission fluid flush. They quoted me $730 for it. I respectfully declined because I got a lower price quote from my regular mechanic (about $500). This is a newbie question and I apologize in advanced if it sounds dumb but I'm not mechanically-inclined: The intake gaskets there now are brand new after being replaced by the dealer last week but will they need to be replaced again after the carbon buildup is cleaned, the tune up is done and the transmission fluid is replenished or can they be re-used? |

I'm the original owner of the car so I know the history. And yes, the tranny fluid will be flushed and replenished.
So no need for new intake gaskets then? The ones that the dealer put in last week should still be good? |

I have to take the intake manifold off when I change my wife's plugs on her '04 PT. I reuse the gasket. I had my intake manifold off several times on my '03 GT when I did performance upgrade work. I reused the gasket and believeme, with the performance mods I had on the GT I would have known if the gasket went bad. With yours having been replaced quite recently then you should be fine.

Tune up? All there is is plugs and wires - yes, always a good idea, just don't waste money on stock wires (Cranes at www.RaceAndStreet.com ) the stock plugs aren't bad. If it were me - do plugs, wires, and get tranny flushed. Tranny flush should be about $200. Plugs, wires installed $100 - $150. BTW - my '05 just hit 55,000 miles - I plan to have tranny flushed.
