Got the car back 2 days ago - when I went to post, the Cable DHL crashed - when it rains....
They replaced the temp sensor and reset the codes - hopefully this will solve my problems. Don't know why they didn't do it the first time. No, Bob, it wasn't limited to 2500 rpm, it would still rev all the way up. Ran fine actually - I just didn't want to rick blowing up the motor with the check engine light on. On the road again...[8)]

Hi,
That was a great tip. I just did that check and got four codes: P1684 P0601 P1490 P1495 Please, are any of the above codes sign of anything serious? Although I don't put a lot of miles on my 2001 Cruiser Ltd I've had this CHECK ENGINE light on for some time now. |

Jaimeg,
your replying to a 6 year old thread, but here's your codes: P1684 Battery Disconnected in the last 50 Starts P0601 - PCM internal controller failure. P1490 (M) Low Speed Fan CTRL Relay Circuit - An open or shorted condition detected in control circuit of the low-speed radiator fan control relay. P1495 (M) - Leak Detection Pump Solenoid Circuit - An open or shorted condition detected in the Leak Detection Pump (LDP) solenoid circuit. If the light has been on for a long time. Disconnect the negative battery terminal for about 5 minutes. This will clear all codes. Then reconnect it and drive normally. If the light comes back on, check it right away for the most up to date faullt.

Our Cruiser is having the same problem. It keeps going into "safe mode" but our regular mechanic couldn't find anything wrong with it. We towed it to the dealership and they say it's running fine. Did you end up getting the computer replaced? Did it help? Was it very expensive?
Thanks for any advice you can give us. We have been trying to get this figured out for 6 weeks now. |

LeftyPT,
Again, your asking about a 16 month old post. When your PT goes into the "safe mode", does the engine light come on? if it does, the fault codes will help you pinpoint the failure of the component that's causing the problem. Use this to get the codes: How to retrieve fault codes.
