I take it the rubbing sound reminds you of a nylon fabric (like from a windbreaker)that rubs against itself? I have the same noise too. Usually happens at slow speeds or when parking...

That is exactly how I would have described the noise I was getting. Along with a bit of a squeal from the power steering pump. The end result was a steering gear replacement. Hope you make out better.

I noticed mine making the "rubbing" sound too the other day...guess I'll have to get her checked out...

UPS did the same thing to. I shipped my old computer to a friend in it's original box, UPS crushed the box and messed up the computer. I put in a claim and they rejectected it saying it was improperly packed. My comment was it was the original shipping box. Their answer " The box was used, therefore it was improper packing that caused the damage." It was improper handling that caused the damage. I'm still fighting the claim.

Had mine in for steering problem this past Tuesday. They stated that they did not find a problem! It would feel like the pump would stop slightly and then come back again. They said it could be that if the AC was on it would cause the feeling that I got. That's not the feeling that I got after hearing that! I've had nothing but could results from them too..... have to wait and see I guess...
