Default Is it ok to add fuel injector cleaner to gas tank?

I have had my turbo for 3 years. The gas that I put in is a cheaper gas. Is it ok to put fuel infector cleaner in the gas tank?

I no longer have a PT and it makes me sad but maybe someday I will have another.

What's cheaper gas? Most gas at non name brand gas stations is the same as the major brands gas. How is your car running? Gas already has cleansing additives in it.

Question Re: Is it ok to add fuel injector cleaner to gas tank?

MeanGreen,
Then why do all the maintenance guidelines call for cleaning the fuel injectors at tune-ups??

If you are talking about the injector service the dealer throws at you at tune up time then that's an add on, one of several moneymakers they want to add on at tune up time. Traded my '01 in at 81k, traded the '03 GT in at 59k and my wife's '04 PT now has 89k. All three PTs ran excellent and none ever had injector service. If a person was determined to throw a can of cleaner in there it wouldn't hurt.

Do a search here on Techron - you can get it at WalMart.

I put a bottle of fuel injector cleaner at every other oil change and my PT has 106,000 miles and still runs like a swiss watch.

what cleaner do you use? i heard the additives put on these cleaners can harm the engine on the long run, it will run great on the early stages but abruptly malfunctions when its time.

This thread is a couple years old but some of the participants are still around.

To your question, if you use a good brand like Techron from Chevron there's no harm that will come to your engine in the long term. I've got 103K in the PT and 155,000K in my Vette. Both running as good as new and I drop a bottle of Techron in both about twice a year.
