Hey All,
With the incredible help of Alan (Gear_Head), I got my turbo timer installed yesterday. WooHoo!!![?] But I had a question. When I take the key out of the ignition and try using the remote to lock the doors, I see that the doors lock, my lights flash, but I don't get the little horn beep that I used to. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it safe to assume that the alarm has been activated anyway? What have you guys done? [:I] Thanks for the help, and again, thanks to Gear-Head for hooking me up with the help (and letting me borrow that intake!!) [8] |

Check you owners manual... see page 20 in the owners manual it has a procedure to activate /deactivate the horn !

Try unlocking and opening the door WITH THE KEY ONLY ( NOT using the remote ) after the timer has expired and see if your alarm goes off.

Actually Timeless, I don't think that would ever sound the alarm. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think the key has a chip that also disarms the alarm when opening the doors??
I dunno? -Shane

My GT does the same thing. The horn will not sound but the doors lock if the TT is running. If you leave a window down you can test the alarm by opening the door from the inside. My horn did sound off.

I'd like to know how to get the alarm to go off. I've even left the window down, manually unlocked the door (pretending like I used a coat hanger or jimmy tool) then opened it, but the alarm doesn't go off.
What does it take to actually activate the alarm?

All I have to do is open the door from the inside after I have locked the doors.

Got my owner's manaul at lunch (page 23):
"To disarm the system: Unlock a front door/liftgate using either the key or the keyless entry transmitter." So it looks like what sfhickey said above is correct. Also, I didn't realize that there is a 16-second time where the system is arming. I didn't watch to see if the indicator light was flashing at that time. "The indicator light in the instrument cluster will flash rapidly for 16 seconds. This shows that the system is arming. During this period, if a door is opened, the ignition switch is turned ON, or the power door locks are unlocked in any manner, the system will automatically disarm. After 16 seconds the indicator light will flash slowly. This shows that the system is fully armed." I'll have to go back and look for the little light....

And at flashbk2's suggestion, here are the steps for the horn chirp activation/deactivation:
"The horn chirp that signals that the doors have been locked can be turned on or off by using the following procedure: 1. Insert the key into the ignitioin switch and turn the switch to the ON position. 2. Press and hold the Unlock button on the transmitter for between four and ten seconds. 3. Continue to hold the Unnlock button and press the Lock button. 4. Release both buttons. A chime will sound to signify that the process is complete" I did notice that if I sit in my car after I take the key out of the ignition and it's running on the timer, a few seconds after I take the key out, I hear a little chime. I'm wondering if that perhaps is the chime that is turning off the horn chirp. Any thoughts? If anyone else wants to give it a try and post their results, I'd be interested in seeing what happens!!!
