Question blow off valves (smog ok?)

hi all i am looking to buy a good bov my dealer offers one but its just a plate and seal is it smog ok or is there better?please let me know thank you guys.

none of the bov's offered are going to technically pass. as they vent into the atmosphere. but I doubt they are going rev your car high enough to set it off. i've passed nj inspection with the mopar, but they don't lift the hood.

Why wouldn't they pass? All they vent is compressed air - there is no fuel introduced to the intake yet, is just venting the intake air.

You can argue that with the state all you want. It is still a modification and that is not allowed unless it is approved. That is what pisses a lot of us off. Even if a mod would LOWER emissions on a car it is not allowed. This is the case when trying to install a more modern engine in an older car that is not as efficient. Can't do it unless the car is over 30 years old here in CA.

Yeah, but it's not like they actually visually check for anything here in California. Plug in the OBD sensor, run the car on a dyno at a couple of different speeds while sniffing the tail pipe and voila! My Miata had all sorts of stuff under the hood that were obviously not stock and nobody ever said a darn thing.
