steering noise !?

i've noticed that when you crank the wheel all the way in either direction, a sort of ruff buzzing noise can be heard when rolling. This occurs in situations such as 3 point turns and in parking lots. Anyone else experienced this, or have any ideas??[:I]

I got the same noise. and when i am driving in a straight line and turn the wheel slowly side to side it feels like the pump cant keep up. like soft-stiff-soft-stiff. I dont know but I live with it

yeah, i;ve noticed the side to side too, but i thought it was just me...oh well. I wonder if these probs happen on the early model pt's too, b/c nothing has changed with the steering. Atleast not that i know.

Hey guys...you are definitely not the only ones...I'm getting ready to go in for the 3rd time for power steering noises. I've had a hose replaced, the whole system flushed?, and now I'm waiting on the rack and pinion parts to come in and they are replacing the whole system. Not to mention the safety recall on the Dual Mass flywheel and clutch assembly. And the oil cooler was replaced also... The list keeps on going. I honestly think I might have a lemon!

I just had my Steering Gear replaced last week for similar problems. All seems better now as far as the side to side motions ect. But the pump is still very noisy until the car comes up to normal operating temp.

I suspect the pump was damaged or is part of the problem. I will be going back to the dealer later next week to see what else they can do. This topic has been going on for quite some time in other posts as well. You are not alone.....

Hmmm, I haven't had this problem yet, I wonder if it has anything to do with the increased "torque steer" from the turbo engine? Maybe the uneven length axles are a bad thing?

I really dont want to take my car to the dealer cuz of the mods. Also my CD player just quit on me last night. It is the 6 disk and it wont play or eject. any one else?

haven't had any stereo probs yet...but you shouldn't have any probs with warranty on that. It's electrical not a mechanical prob. As with any mod, the dealership has to prove that the prob was solely caused by the mod.
