As long as it's not RED, it's probably just the condensation tube from the air-conditioning. Even in the winter, the air-conditioning (compressor) comes on when you have the setting on for the front window defrost. In my 01, the tube lets the condensation drip right nest to the passenger front tire.
But if it's GREEN then it is a coolant loss from a loose or broken line.

thanks crewzin. i appreciate your reply.

i may remove the battery and its tray tonight to get a better look around and to see if i can see anything suspicious. i'm hoping it's only a loose clamp, as the car only has 36K miles.

good news. the leak stopped as quick as it started.

the leak started when i backed up the car up our steep inclined driveway - then turned it off right away. i'm wondering...is there's a coolant pressure check/release valve somewhere other than the one near the filler neck? could the coolant have burped/belched from the coolant recovery tank's overflow passage? ---because it was pretty much empty. however, at the radiator, the coolant level was and is still full.

this magical leak is puzzling.

I had a leak from the hose that was attached to the turbo metal coolant line, and it only leaked when the engine was rev'd. There are also 2 heater hoses going over the tranny. If the overflow bottle was empty that's not a good thing, as you are loosing coolant. First check the turbo coolant line between the air box and head (remove the air box), there is a sharp bend in the hose and if it feel vey soft, or if you rev the engine watch that area.

thanks! i can see the network of hoses. they all look and feel dry to the touch. btw: i thought the turbo cooler line was an oil line. is there an oil and coolant line for the turbo?

There are also 2 lines coming out of the turbo underneath, and can only be seen from under the car. I replaced the coolant hose several months ago as it felt soft, and I also placed foil around the hose as a heat shield. You will need Rhino ramps to even see them, and you will want to use regular hose clamps instead of the factory spring clamps. I suggest that every one who owns a turbo PT check the coolant hoses from the turbo, or risk burning up the motor, and being stuck in the middle of no where!
