Which temp is more important in our turbos oil or coolant. Stupid question I know but I want to get a temp gauge and I need to know I am looking at the right thing..
Thanks all |

Exhaust Gas Temp gauge may be a better choice.. After that, I would consider coolant temp, since coolant temp is one of the sensors monitored by the PCM to determine fuel mapping.

If you got an oil temp somewhere ,somehow you'd need to find out the "normal" operating range of the oil. EGT is a good choice but only if you choose to believe the woefully pathetic factory water -temp . You know what I have in my car to me the mechanical water temp is one of my most valuable tools . I wish I'd got an EGT but don't know what I'd remove. I figure the EGT and the air fuel are roughly accomplishing the same thing in a turbo based motor. That being said I would say water temp is still my personal choice .

I agree with Dalite. The EGT is the most important and the water temp is next. I used a mechanical water temp gauge, its much more accurate than the electric stock gauge.

And keep the temp below 1500 to be safe, you might find a pool of moltant aluminum around 1600.[:0]

EGT is the way for me!
