The Stage II Upgrade Kit (Under Development)
Target Output - 260 hp and 280 ft-lb of torque (subject to change) * Stage II PCM * Turbo Toys Hardware and Components * 682 cc/min Fuel Injectors * Wastegate Actuator * 3.0 Bar MAP Sensor * 3.0 Bar TIP Sensor * 2.5-Inch Cat-Back Exhaust System (optional) * Target Release - December 2003 -------------------------------- Now, the Stage II will use the existing turbo. However, it will have a new Wastegate Actuator. These specs were introduced at the Tuners Gone Wild get together in Atlanta over the past weekend, and are geared toward the SRT-4 Crowd. I am guessing the PT owners will get the same kit. This will prove that the engine can make up to 260 hp with the addition of further electronic programming and minor hardware additions. It appears that the addition of more fuel, wider range sensors and new wastegate actuator make the difference; when the new PCM allows them to. Still no change in the internals of the engine. I wonder just how much performance we are sitting on top of, waiting for DCX to sell us the Keys. The new-age installment plan is born! Apparently, only Stage III is slated to get the new turbo now, and won't be offered as an optin for the PT GT. **edited for spelling errors** |

Then Dalite - Can we assume that the projected cost of Stage II - $3,000 + - will decrease. I can only assume that the high cost of the original Stage II was for the new TURBO.
Might be time to wait for the Stage II if it is affordable.[:I]

Don't forget the intercooler sprayer. They've added that to the Stage II prelim specs, IIRC.

From what I read, the under $4000.00 was all that was committed to.
But, reading between the lines, and from what is supposed to be included, I would think it would be quite a bit less than that. I think Mopar and PVO are still reeling about the fallout that they have recieved on their past introductions. I am not saying that the fallout was un-warranted (excuse the PUN). I feel that their marketing department looked at the cost of changing the turbo and adding the injectors and other components and decided they could put out a more competitive enhancement that concentrated more on electromnics and programming. The number of PT GTs and SRT-4s sold as a percentage of all DCX 2003 sales would place a real incentive on Team PVO to develop upgrades that Mopar Performance could market with a high degree of saturation to the intended audience. The only way they can do this is to keep the pricing affordable. I will go out on a limb and guess that the upgrade (minus the optional Cat-Back setup) would retail for less than $1200.00, with a street price of $899.00 to $999.00.. This is a wild guess, and not based on any inside knowledge. Below is the 2 different systems - for comparison ------------------------------------------------- Stage II Upgrade Kit Components (Original Announcement) The Stage II kit boosts power to an amazing 270 hp and 270 ft-lb or torque. This kit includes, but is not limited to: * TDO5H-15GK2 Turbo Unit * Turbo Unit Installation Components * Stage II ECM * +20% Fuel Injectors * High-Flow (75 psi) Fuel Pump Module * Variable Fuel Pressure Regulator * 3.0 Bar MAP Sensor * 3.0 Bar TIP Sensor * 2.5 I Pipe and Adaptor * Available Winter 2003 The Stage II Upgrade Kit (Under Development)[ July 19th 2003 announcement] Target Output - 260 hp and 280 ft-lb of torque (subject to change) * Stage II PCM * Turbo Toys Hardware and Components * 682 cc/min Fuel Injectors * Wastegate Actuator * 3.0 Bar MAP Sensor * 3.0 Bar TIP Sensor * 2.5-Inch Cat-Back Exhaust System (optional) * Target Release - December 2003 |

i was planning on ordering the stage one kit, but I think I'll wait to see what happens with the stage II kit...I like the "power" of my PT, but it isn't like my old mustang cobra...I don't go out "looking" to play with my PT...it just happens...

Under $4,000 including the new high tech turbo in Stage III, but for Stage II (bolstered stage I):
PCM and Injectors = same $400 TIP & MAP (@$75) = $150 Waste Gate = $150 Total = $700-$750 (My Best guess for parts) What is this Crap about no PT kits? They don't warrant anything anyway (Car or parts), so who is saying that you can't use "Purely race parts" on any one automobile. |

Dalite - Are you in Atlanta? I'm in South Metro. Where does this group meet and do they have a web site?

The Tuner's Gone Wild was a national meet, from what I could determine. The info was distributed well among the SRT-4 crowd. There seemed to be a lot of Mopar/Team PVO representation at this event. I didn't go; I am in Brunswick, GA and I attended part of the Sweet as a Peach Cruise-In weekend in Savannah .
I think they regard us PT owners as red-headed step children; since most of us are older and less likely to look before we leap... Here is a link to the thread that I got my info from: http://www.srtforums.com/forums/show...5&goto=newpost |
