Quoted from:

http://www.autointell.net/nao_compan...gine-plant.htm

The new Tritec 1.4- and 1.6-liter gasoline engines will be highly fuel efficient and produce very low emissions in accordance with European and other strict emissions standards. Initial product plans for the 1.6-liter engine include the next generation of Chrysler's Neon sedans for international markets and the New Mini to be built in Great Britain by the Rover Group, a subsidiary of BMW

It doesn't sound like the PT engine will be built there.

Am I correct that the next generation platform will be from the Mitsubishi Lancer side of things. (I wouldn't mind having the Evo 4WD and boost pressures in a PT 2.4!)

It'd be nice to have the EVO influence, but the AWD tranny would put the weight of the GT over the top. I'd imagine from the large torque numbers as well, that an AWD wouldn't last to long in a the GT of a "spirited" driver

Before settling on the 2.4 Turbo, Chrysler was contemplating using the supercharged motor in the Mini-S. They even had test mules running this engine.

The supercharged 1.6 Mini engine puts out 126 HP and the balls out Cooper version puts out 200. I don't know why DC would consider this for domestic PTs.

uh, if normal boosting in the 03 turbo (without mbc) is 5 psi and 10-12 psi at WOT, what boost levels would you see with the 180hp version? Does it have the intercooler?

I understand the GT boost is 15 psi, high for a stock auto. The 180 appears to have an inter-cooler. I looked at it side by side with my GT and I could see no differences under the hood
