Default Laps at Atlanta Motor Speedway

Hey guys and gals -

A good friend of mine who lives near AMS has a contact that works at the track and when I was at their place yesterday, we got to go to the track and make a couple of laps. Unfortunately, I kept it under 90, but honestly, being the first time I have driven on a high-banked track, the sensation in the corners was somewhat weird, and I was being cautious. WHen you get deep in the corners, it's like you're driving straight, but you're actually turning left and going uphill. I wouldn't want to really go WOT unless I had a chance to make several passes and get used to it.
Maybe next time I'll bring a damn camera and get some pics on the start/finish line.

Just a fun Saturday I guess.

My wife gave me a Richard Petty Ultimate Driving Experince for my birthday this year. I was able to get to about 150mph on the straight aways and my fastest lap speed was 120.45 (Winston cup record is 132mph) at New Hampshire International Raceway (1 mile with fairly flat corners).

This was absoultly the best E-Ticket ride I have ever had. I have driven rode cars in excess of 140mph in the past but the Winston Cup car was rock steady and totally confidence inspiring.

Well, for a car that's race-ready and set-up to do that, it sounds fun, but in a street car, I don't think I would want to do the high-banks at Atlanta going that fast, especially in the top-heavy cruiser with mushy springs.

Phatdad and I ran our turbo's @ Watkins Glen on Sunday with probably 20 other cruisers . We went to the back of the line along with Dart and had a pace car on our backsides ..... I was in front and backed off a bunch from the cars in front of me so the 3 of us could hit the corners/ straights as had as we dared . We were diving into some of the corners around 60-65 no brakes rowing the tranny and I hit 105 mph more than once on the uphill straight.....I'm glad I recycled my strut bar and larger sways they worked flawlessly. We only did 4 or 5 laps as it was raining...what a blast !
