Every time I read about these TSB's it makes me want to just go in and get it done, even if I don't have the symptoms.
I did that with the high RPM miss. My reasoning is this, just because it's not doing it now doesn't mean it won't become a problem some time down the road, probably 1 mile after the warranty runs out!! What do you guys/gals think? Am I being over cautious?

We had the chirping sound under the hood, thought it was a belt but the boss lady finally took it to the dealer yesterday afternoon and said "Fix it" -- the service writer called this afternoon, power steering pump was on the verge of failure. Part is on order and will be repaired tomorrow. Hmmmmm. Just over 9,000 miles on the car.

Well I took in my 2004 Pt turbo to the dealers on friday. They were aware of the TSB on the revised power steering hose and have ordered it for me. I will updated when installed to see if it gets rid of the whistle sound. Hope it does?????

Hi, I just registered with the forum but I've been coming here ever since I bought my 2001 Pt Limited Touring. My Petey, as I call him, had a lot of miles on. 140,000 approx. and needed some TLC from the start. First thing, I ripped off the radiator hose in high snow and the car quickly overheated. This was before I'd made the first payment, I took it back to the dealership I purchased it from and they fixed it and replaced the thermostat. Around $800 for those repairs. A few months later it was surging so I replaced the plugs and wires based on info from this site and it solved the surging. Then the overheating returned and before I knew it, BAM! Cracked block and had the entire top end of the engine rebuilt and all the pumps and belts changed. Nearly $3000! This winter I barely tapped the front end on a large dip in the road. I was barely moving and now I have power steering fluid leaking out of the bottom faster than I can put it in. I am not driving it more than 5 miles, (just to work and home) and it's like trying to manuver a tank. Now the rubbing sound is there in idle, it sound like something scraping every 6 seconds. I'm hoping I just put a hole in the hose but I just know they are going to tell me it's time to replace the rack and pinion. I'm poor and can not afford anymore repairs like this! I love the look of this car and always have but I'm so disappointed in the sheer fragility of my car.

Ok, this is for the noise, bank in the day, lol....when you heard a noise when you turn, it was because the steering fluid is low...I'm not sure about the newer cars but....won't hurt to take a look

Ziondweller, welcome to the forum.
Don't take this personally, but it sure sounds like the things that happened to your poor Petey was not Petey's fault. SNOW ripped off radiator hose (you were taken for a ride paying $800 for that repair), OVERHATED to the point of warping the head (everyone else that overheated stopped the car right away, not keep driving till the block cracked), now the DIP IN THE ROAD (Not your fault but certainly not Petey's) and the power steering is damaged, maybe beyond repair and you'll have to replace it. Poor Petey is getting a bad rap.

Of course I pulled over right away when the car overheated and had it towed. I get the feeling it was warped when I bought it. I just didn't have the constant overheating problem in the dead of winter because I don't drive a lot. But as soon as the days got warm again I had to have it towed, again, because it was overheating. Maybe not Petey's fault but certainly not mine. I think the previous owner didn't take regular car of Petey. The dirty oil tells me that.
