Stupid Problem
I have an 03 GT Turbo, Stage 1, +extras with about 86,000 miles....Just had a leaky head gasket replaced, and during the process, payed for a little valve work on my head.....Just a little bigger intake and exhaust valve....no big deal.....On my way home, after the 500 frustrating miles my mechanic said I had be nice to it for the seals to set, I finally get that jackass in the little import that thinks his car is fast just because he put 3 grand into the body and paint and not the motor that hes going to pass me on the right with absolutely no room....The car in front of me was just completing a left hand turn, and this kid was so impatient he had to pass on the shoulder. So I figured, I'm over my mechanics safe period, and give it a little to teach this kid a lesson.....When all of a sudden, I lose complete turbo pressure and my engine starts whining....Almost as if I have a leak in my intake system........I was already about a mile from home, so I limped it home and called my mechanic, after discovering an oil leak....
He tells me there was a little leak of oil from the tappet cover gasket. He fixed that, but the little spring in the diaphram of the recirculation valve on the turbo needs to be replaced....He called the chrysler dealer, and they told him they only sell complete turbos, not the individual parts that attach to them...and its 1200 for a new turbo....Ive spent the last 2 hours searching on the net for this damn spring that keeps eluding me......Ive even looked into aftermarket upgraded turbos.
I have an aftermarket warranty that will replace my turbo with an OEM one, which is 1200 dollars. My mechanic is great at getting things covered, especially when you can only get the whole turbo, and not just the spring....He's assured me they will pay 1200 plus install labor rates....Im just wondering where I could get one these springs, or suggestion for an aftermarket turbo system for around 1200 dollars.....
I guess I'm a little behind on these turbos.....I know engine blocks, Cams, and Head....Old time american muscle car enthusiast....Jut like the PT cruiser for its older styling and fun driving....I love to show my buddies what it can do compared there old Novas and Camaros.....It still surprises them....
