Hi all! This is my first post here. I just purchased a used 2003 GT last week and I'm loving it so far, but the more I learn the more questions I have!
1. My battery doesn't have the "wrap" I keep reading about. Is that a problem? Is the wrap there to keep the battery warm in cold weather or to protect it from the heat of the engine? I know that heat isn't often a problem for batteries, but I thought I should ask. 2. I was poking around under the hood this afternoon and I realized that I didn't know how to remove the bar from across the top of the battery. I can't even believe I'm having to ask this! In other cars I've worked on (mostly six-cylinder with larger batteries), there was a securing mount near the base of the battery. Do you have to remove a bolt to remove the battery bar? Thanks for taking the time to read my post. I'm really looking forward to learning more more more! I'm sure I'll have more challenging questions in the future. |

Much thanks to both of you.

In the USA most batteries fail because of excessive heat in the southwest and Florida. The purpose of the wrap is to shield the battery from heat more so than from cold.
