you may know of this if you have an autostick but I did not and just happened to stumble upon it this morning.
There are 2 ways to shift to second gear...in drive or manually in autostick. But I found a third way.....put it in autostick, floor it or accelerate moderately hard and the car will do a very firm shift a redline by itself into second gear. I did not have room or time to keep going to see if it did a 2 to 3 and 3 to 4 shift. I did like the very firm shift and it seemed to be just right for the turbo vs power vs speed try it |

guess what I'm trying to say is that letting the tranny in "D" do it or trying to manually shift in autostick I could never seem to get the power of the turbo at just the right time. But letting it shift by itself in autostick seems to be just the right HP and Torque with what seems like a firmer shift. Anyway, the book doesn't mention it and even if the tranny didn't shift in autostick you wouldn't hurt the motor because you have a built in RPM limiter.
