If the fuel pump is dead the car wont start since there will be no fuel, been there and done that.

isn't it true that when a fuel pump is bad, or goes out, then it goes completely out? it wouldn't just work some of the time. also, i've heard you can't just replace the fuel filter without doing the entire fuel pump as well. they say the filter is not a serviceable part, and that's why auto part stores don't sell it separately. i just got the same code (P0340) on mine for the cam shift sensor AFTER i did all the research on the pump.
