The Porsche trans also has a clunk because of oversize hardened steel syncros, made for rapid and balistic shifting. It might be good to find out about the internals on this tranny. I know that Chevrolet uses the same manifacturer for the Corvette trans.

Any idea how we can find out what the truth is behind this clunk...I think the idea from "hyracer" might be correct as if I play with the gas pedal and clutch and speed of changing the gear, the noise is totally gone...
Anyone know how to contact a DC development engineer?

Cheers,

LIP

i beleive it's good for what racers refer to as "bangin' gears"!!!! The tranny is very smooth and quick when ****ing quickly and under load at WOT and feels extremely sturdy for a completely stock tranny. Yeah yeah i know "don't power shift".... i'm stubborn, and good luck pulling out a serious 1/4 time granny shifting.

I think you left out a "f" in "shifting" above!

I have a friend who has been experiencing this problem. It seems like th dealer has admitted a problem, the rep is now involved in the solution process. My car I can't hear it, (maybe due to my BTG exhaust) but it seems to be only in turbo 5 speeds. As I get updates I will post them for all to see, Gary

I am also having a problem with my PT LE 5sp, but I notice there hasn't been a post to this thread since last August - does this mean everyone's problems have been fixed?[]

When my car is cold, I can shift smoothly into any gear. But as the car warms up, I have more and more trouble getting into 1st. When I took it to a dealer, they told I needed a new clutch and pressure plate - $1200.00. There's only 45,000 kilometers on the car and I drive it like a grandmother taking her kittens to the vet - if I babied this car any more, I'd be out pushing it!

I left without getting the work done to get a second opinion. A friend told me to try pumping the clutch pedal. Now, after the car is warmed up and the shifter starts to do this, I pump the clutch a couple of times and it will go in easier, but still not completely smoothly like when it's cold. Is it possible I have a hydraulic line problem, but if so, why only after the engine is warmed up?

Here in the states, we have what's called a 7/70 powertrain warranty. I am sure you have something similar in Canada, only in Kilometers instead of miles...here it's 7 years or 70,000 miles.

Slap the dealer in the face with your weenie and tell him to fix it under warranty.

Unbelievable!!

Did you ask your D(St)ealer about the "warranty"?
