Default Couple General Q's

Couple of general q's. First, where should the temperature guage be for normal operation ?

Secondly, when I start my turbo cruiser up, there seems to be like a hissing sound... at first I thought it was a vaccume leak, but that would make the check engine light come on and its not... then I listened under the hood, and it seems to be coming from the radiator cap / fuel rail, belt cover area. Not sure which of those it is. Could be a noisey belt, or the rail is just pumping that fast, or its something else... any ideas ? Its weird because it goes away as I accelerate, and when I decelerate, but is always present all the rest of the time.

Temperature gage should be in the opening for it in the dash!! Seriously, mine runs midpoint to just below midpoint. Is your running hot or cold?

Is your coolant level okay? Does it look like your serpentine belt has jumped a ridge and is rubbing?

Coolant level is good. Didnt take the cover off to check the belt, but, i was fooling with the knob on the dash that you can put on either fresh air or recirculation air, and if i put it like 3/4 of the way over towards recirculate, but not all the way over, it stops hissing. Must be some sort of air duct problem.
